Support

We offer three support options:

1. Support Group Meetings at Children’s Hospital – We will have guest speakers such as neurosurgeons, neurologists, neurosurgery nurse practitioners, physical and occupational therapists etc plus a specific topic to learn about at each meeting. Sample topics could include research on new treatments, shunt technologies, developmental outcomes, transition from child to adult treatment etc.

Please come Thursday September 16th, hosted at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Guest Speaker, Nora M. Thompson, PhD, ABPP Board Certified Clinical Neuropsychologist in private practice in Edmonds, WA.  Dr. Thompson has published on topics such as hydrocephalus and other neurological disorders as well as ADD.  Neuropsychology is the basic scientific discipline that studies the structure and function of the brain related to specific psychological processes and overt behaviors. Dr. Thompson will discuss her research about children with hydrocephalus and take questions from the audience.

2. Online Hydrocephalus Community Forum – Our forum is a hosted as a discussion on the Children’s Hydrocephalus Support Group fan page on Facebook.   Become a fan if you want the forum to post a message on the new bulletin board and learn what other parents have to share. If you have a specific question, you just want to share your concerns/emotions or just want to read what other parents have to say.

3. Contact Us – Email lpoliski@hydrosupport.org or call Lori 425-482-0479 and we can discuss what you need most ie, to talk to another parent, information, pediatric neurosurgeons in your Northwest region etc. Also if you have an older child with hydrocephalus we can put you in contact with a similiar age child with hydrocephalus for support for your child.
